The HRI Pioneers workshop brings together a cohort of the world’s top student researchers and provides the opportunity for students to present and discuss their work with distinguished student peers and senior scholars in the field. In 2023, Sanne and I organized the workshop with a team of students from the 2022 cohort. It was a successful event that we were happily able to do in person!

The 2022 HRI Pioneers Cohort

We accepted 19 students from all around the world to participate in the workshop. This workshop is meant to be like a mini conference, and it felt like it! It was amazing to see months of work come into fruition.

HRI Pioneers Mingle at Digital Futures

We were also able to organize multiple events, (thanks to Sanne’s local connections in Sweden). Around 60 researchers gathered at Digital Futures for a HRI Pioneers mingle event. This mingle brought together HRI Pioneers cohorts from the last 17 years, the earliest being the 2006 cohort. For many attendees, it was the first time meeting each other in person after years of remote events!

During the week Sanne also put together an event at Aifur, a viking-inspired restaurant in the old town of Stockholm. Can’t go to Scandinavia without getting the viking experience!
